General Hand-Batch Mixing Instructions
Certain care is required when you are mixing prepolymers and curing agents to make polyurethane parts. Basically, the operation should take place in well-ventilated area; the operators should wear gloves, long sleeves, and safety goggles. Before handling chemicals, please review the Material Safety Data Sheet and other safety information on the container. Disposal of these items is also regulated. These instructions may not be applicable to some polyurethane systems. Please consult our representatives.
For both solid and foam urethane
Carefully calculate the weight of each part using ratio information provided and set aside the prepolymer and curing agent ( part-A and part-B).
Thoroughly clean the surface of the mold or frame. Apply mold release.
The pre-polymer, curing agent, and the mold should be in the temperature range of 68 – 78 F before mixing.
Part B should be poured into the can containing Part A.
Solid Polyurethane
Mix in a circular motion as well as a top to bottom motion. Mixing with a square bottom spatula or paint stick is preferred. Try not to make bubbles. Mix for approximately 45 to 60 seconds.
Pour into opening.
Allow the parts to cure. (Please refer to the data sheet of your product for curing time information.)
Observe the precautions detailed on the Material Safety Data Sheet for handling these materials and for the disposal of containers.
Foam Polyurethane
Allow the contents of the Part B can to drain for 10 seconds, then stop pouring. It is not necessary to scrape all of Part B into Part A.
Mix well while scraping the sides and bottom of the can repeatedly. Mix in a circular motion as well as a top to bottom motion. Mixing with a square bottom spatula or paint stick is preferred.
30 seconds after mixing has begun, begin pouring into the part to be foamed.
Single-Application Kits: Pour entire contents into the part.
Dual-Application Kits: Pour one-half of the contents into one part, then pour the second-half into the second part.
Quickly scrape the liquid remaining in the can into the part. It is not necessary to thoroughly drain the can.
Seal the part before the foam reaches the opening and exits the foamed cavity.
Observe the precautions detailed on the Material Safety Data Sheet for handling these materials and for the disposal of containers.
