Data Sheets for High Performance Polyurethane Systems

Northstar Polymers continuously makes its effort to improve qualities of its polyurethane formulations. The following data sheets are updated according to the recent results of the physical tests conducted upon our improved formulations. These products are available for all manufacturers of high-performance polyurethane parts. The list shows the products in the categories of "Ester Base" and "Ether-Base"; the each category is then separated into "Quasi" systems and "Full Prepolymer" systems. Click on the product code to view the data sheet.

Ester Base High-Performance Formulations

Ester base high-performance polyurethanes are known for high tensile strength, excellent abrasion resistance as well as cut/tear resistance. Parts molded with this type materials are used in a variety of applications including material handling, pulleys, sprockets, and other mechanically demanding applications. These are also known for excellent oil resistance; however, for long-term use in constant aqueous environments, we recommend considering one of our polyether systems listed under this.

Ester "Quasi" Systems

These are systems consist of a MDI/Ester prepolymer at higher %NCO (15 - 26 %) cured with our special curatives. "Quasi" systems are known for low viscosity and relatively lower processing temperature.

Ester "Full Prepolymer" Systems

These are conventional prepolymer systems consists of MDI/Ester prepolymers at lower %NCO (less than 15 %), can be cured with 1,4-Butanediol, other standard amine/polyol urethane curatives, or our special curing agents. These are commonly called "hot-cast" urethane systems.

Ether (PTMEG) Base High-Performance Formulations

Ether (PTMEG) base high-performance polyurethanes are known for "high-energy" characteristics, which include high-rebound, excellent abrasion resistance, and high elongation. Together with their excellent tensile and cut/tear resistance, parts molded with these materials are preferred in a variety of applications including inline skate wheels, sizing screens for mined products such as rocks/sand/minerals, material handling parts, and other highly demanding applications. These are also known for excellent water resistance and are recommended for long-term use in constant aqueous environments.
