Microcellular Foam Systems



Polyurethane microcellular foams are closed-cell, flexible-to-firm foams with a high density. It is usually processed with the compression molding process. Parts made from microcellular foams can bear heavy loads, mitigate high impact force, and float in water without absorbing water quickly. Microcellular foams can be used to make padding/cushioning/grip arts for sporting goods and many other products, specialty wheel chocks for airplanes and heavy equipment, general flexible/light parts with good strength, specialty gaskets, wheels/tires for various slow-to-intermediate moving speed products, and many other molded parts. Due to the shrinkage issue, typically microcellular foams are not suitable for open top molding or cast-in-place applications.



MPS-M23B : Room-Temperature Curable Microcellular Foam (Polyether/Polyester Hybrid), 40 - 45 A Durometer Surface hardness



This foam polyurethane formulation is designed to yield closed-cell microcellular foam by either hand-mixing or machine casting method at room temperature. The components are liquid at room temperature. It is designed to be used in compression molding process with 10% or higher compression rate. For a small quantity, this can be batched manually by hand tools. This can also be cast with a multi-component metermixing/dispensing machine. The free-rise density of the foam is 23 pounds-per-cubicfoot.



SMC-23A : 20 - 25 A Durometer Surface Hardness Polyester Based Microcellular Foam



SMC-23A is polyester-MDI based flexible microcellular foam formulation. At 25 LBS/ft3 compressed density foam, the surface hardness is 23A Shore Durometer. The cell structure is closed-cell. SMC-23A is formulated with high-performance class raw materials, and the physical property and surface quality of molded foam are very strong for this hardness range foam. SMC23A may be suitable for such applications that require good cushioning property together with durability of molded foam parts.



SMC-35A : 30 - 35 A Durometer Surface Hardness, Polyester Base, microcellular foam



SMC-35A is polyester-MDI based flexible microcellular foam formulation. At 25 LBS/ft3 compressed density foam, the surface hardness is 35A Shore Durometer. The cell structure is closed-cell. SMC-35A is formulated with high-performance class raw materials, and the physical property and surface quality of molded foam are very strong for this hardness range foam. SMC35A may be suitable for such applications that require good cushioning property together with durability of molded foam parts.



SMC-53A : 50 - 55 A Durometer surface hardness, polyester base, microcellular foam



SMC-53A is polyester-MDI based flexible microcellular foam formulation. At 25 LBS/ft3 compressed density foam, the surface hardness is 53A Shore Durometer. The cell structure is closed-cell. SMC-53A is formulated with high-performance class raw materials, and the physical property and surface quality of molded foam are very strong for this hardness range foam. SMC53A may be suitable for such applications that require good cushioning property together with durability of molded foam parts
